On 1 October 2013, the new Government Rules of Sourcing came into force. The Mandatory Rules for Procurement by Departments are now a thing of the past. The new Rules are the result of a huge amount of work on the part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, including consultation with both agencies and the supply market. Their introduction represents one of the most significant changes in the New Zealand public procurement landscape in recent years.
