Legal considerations for support groups using information

Lucy Elwood recently spoke to a number of small charitable organisations that use information to support their cause.  The session focused on the legal considerations which crop up when using other people’s information.  Many charities and other groups hold a lot of information (e.g. personal information about their members) and share a lot of information (e.g. in newsletters, on their websites, on blogs etc).

It’s important for all organisations to understand the core legal obligations that apply to such information (such as privacy, defamation, confidentiality and copyright). The slides from this session may be of use to other organisations that use information to support their cause and are available for download here.
