For those who haven’t seen it yet, the Government Legal Network (also known as the GLN) has released a new public website at gln.govt.nz, sitting on the Government’s SilverStripe-operated Common Web Platform.

The site’s home page explains that lawyers joining a public sector legal team become part of the GLNĀ  “which is committed to a whole-of-government collaborative approach to providing high quality and valuable legal services to the Crown”.

An About the Network page provides more information on the network, with video explanations by Michael Herron QC (Solicitor-General) and Erin Judge (Senior Advisor, Government Legal Network) and you can download a PDF overview of the GLN too. The Working in Government page provides the views of four in-house lawyers on what one can expect from a career as a government lawyer and the site contains a series of lawyer profiles that provide an indication as to the variety of work and career paths on offer to government lawyers.

If you want to keep in touch with the GLN’s progress and new initiatives, you can stay in touch by providing your email address on the site’s contact page.

It’s great to see this public site up and running. Congratulations to the GLN team.
